Each year, Retro Report works with educators across the nation who use our journalism and classroom resources in their teaching. Through that work, we learn how students engage with our materials and how those resources function in real classrooms.

Today, we’re pleased to announce the 2026 Teacher Advisor groups, made up of more than 400 educators from rural, suburban and urban schools across all 50 states. They teach across many disciplines, including Social Studies, Science and English Language Arts, and they use Retro Report’s free classroom resources to support classroom discussion and inquiry.

Each group plays a vital role in how Retro Report resources reach students:

The Council of Educators

This group of 25 leaders will serve as our primary collaborators. They will meet in our newsroom in New York City this summer for an annual summit to create new lesson plans, student activities, interactive resources and primary source sets. Their expertise ensures that Retro Report materials remain usable across a range of school settings.

Teacher Ambassadors

The Teacher Ambassador network includes more than 400 educators who share Retro Report resources within their professional communities and provide feedback based on classroom use.

Engaging with Revolutionary History Fellowship

This fellowship is a three-year professional development program for teachers of History, Civics and related subjects. The fellowship brings together more than 40 teachers who meet monthly in virtual seminars to research and develop classroom resources connecting the Founding period to the present. Fellows will also convene for in-person workshops. Participants are eligible to earn graduate credit through Minnesota State University, Mankato, and work with historians, scholars and partner institutions focused on History and Civics education.

These advisor groups will continue to inform our editorial and educational work, shaping stories and resources that support historical understanding in the classroom.
