Lesson Plan: Citizen Nation: Finding Lessons in Defeat
Grades 7-12
Students from Maggie Walker Governor’s School in Virginia have a longstanding tradition of excellence when competing in the State “We the People” competition. Despite intense preparation, things didn’t go as expected. Through it all, students learn that success isn’t only about winning, it’s about growing through the experience. Historically, we have observed different examples of how politicians handle a loss on a big stage.
