Lesson Plan: City Planning and the Future of Cities
Medellรญn, Colombia, has undergone a remarkable transformation. For years, hillside neighborhoods were seen as too poor and dangerous to invest in, leaving residents isolated in makeshift homes. That began to change in 2004, when the city built the Metrocable, a gondola system linking the slums to the city center. The project reconnected communities and revitalized the region. In this lesson, students will explore Medellรญnโs story and take on a city-planning challenge of their own.
