As they explore the nation’s capital, they discover the symbolism of the city and its monuments, and prepare for life after graduation. This lesson will explore the unique symbolism of Washington as a launching point for students to investigate the history and significance of their own town or region. Emphasis will be placed on civic engagement and the power of place in shaping identity and community.
