“Silence in Sikeston” has been named a finalist in the 2025 Institute for Nonprofit News Awards. The short doc examines the story of how the 1942 lynching of Cleo Wright – and the subsequent failure of the first federal attempt to prosecute a lynching – continues to haunt the small city of Sikeston, Missouri. It was released in partnership with KFF Health News and WORLD, and is nominated for best Journalism Collaboration of the Year.
